Superdebut

On Tuesday Spartak had the debut match in the championships of VTB United league. Our team played with one of the best European teams - CSKA.
The game was attractive for people in St.Petersburg because the fight between Spartak and CSKA is important for fans during more than 30 years. Also one more fact made people to come in Yubileiny that evening. The most famous Russian player Andrey Kirilenko had his debut in Russia in CSKA after 10 years in NBA. Andrey is from St.Petersburg and he started his professional career in Spartak.
The game was very intensive and one or another team took lead for 4-7 points in different moments. The start was for CSKA but in the end Spartak could win - 83:81.
Patrick Beverley from our team took 22 points. Yotam Halperin and Valery Likhodey took 12 points, Anatoly Kashirov - 11 points and Miha Zupan - 10.

Jurij Zdovc (head coach of Spartak): "Congratulations to my players. But it was only one game. We have many games ahead. We played not so as we planned. Our game in the beginning was slow, soft, without fouls. Also we had so in the start of the second half. But the substitutions gave us energy. May be the 3-points shoots of Zupan had changed the rythm of the game. Kotishevsky and Dragovic who also came from the bench helped very much".
